Serif fonts tend to feel more serious than other styles. They are however quite trendy for branding right now. This list focuses on free elegant serif fonts that come with a commercial license, which means you can use them for logos, branding, packaging, social media, and client work or even upload them to Canva.

All 14 fonts here are free. You just need a free Creative Fabrica account to download them and no free trial or paid subscription is required. On each product page, scroll past the subscription banner and look for the “Download this product as a freebie (No Free Trial)” link.

The fonts in the following list are free to download. Note that these are affiliate links — if you choose to purchase a subscription or product from Creative Fabrica, I make a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps me keep the site running.

1. Wordan

Wordan is a striking bold serif display font that would work well for a brand name or a single short headline, but anything longer would get hard to read fast.

2. Clemora

Clemora is a clean, high-contrast serif that sits comfortably between classic and modern. It also includes ligatures and alternate characters, which is useful if you want more control over how a logo or wordmark looks.

3. Seraphim

Seraphim is a light, traditional serif with well-defined serifs. It’s more readable than some of the thinner options in this list, which makes it a solid choice if you want something refined but still clearly legible.

4. Margareth Rosinante

Margareth Rosinante is a duo that contains a serif and a handwritten script in one download. The serif has very dramatic appearance and the script companion is a casual handwriting style, which pairs well with it if you want to mix type in a logo or heading. The two together give you a lot of flexibility for branding.

5. Leonis

Leonis has a slightly art deco look, particularly in the uppercase. The italic version leans quite far, which gives it a distinctly different feel from the regular. These two together could work well as a heading and subheading pairing within the same brand.

6. Sok Brubah

Sok Brubah is a decorative serif font with tiny diamond shapes embedded in some of the letterforms. It’s all caps and wouldn’t work for body text or anything that needs to be highly legible, but for a logo or a single-word brand name it would stand out.

7. La Fleur

La Fleur is a the kind of serif font you see in fashion magazine mastheads. It comes in three styles: regular, italic, and oblique and all three work well for logos and headings where you want something that reads as modern and sophisticated.

8. Hidda

Hidda is probably the most delicate font in this list. It is thin and well spaced. If you’re building a brand around clean, understated design, this is a good one to look at.

9. Noble Elegant

Noble Elegant is certainly on the bolder side. The italic version is noticeably bolder than most italics, so it doesn’t fade into the background if you use it for a subheading. This is a good choice for creating emphasis.

10. Laisha

Laisha has a retro feel compared to the other fonts in this list — the serifs are chunkier and it leans more vintage than elegant. It could work for a brand that wants a serif with some personality rather than a clean, polished look, but it’s the odd one out here stylistically.

11. Raclie

Raclie is very light and has an airy feel that makes it look good on anything with a lot of white space around it. It’s great for bodies of text, packaging, and stationery. It would get lost quickly at small sizes though.

La Lemonti is a chunky, high-contrast serif. It would work well for bits of text that need emphasis.
